Elegant Painters is a family-run business that was founded in Vancouver, Washington when a group of independent contractors decided they would collectively put their skills together to form a company that would provide multiple services. The name itself was something that they argued about for a little while in the beginning, being that labeling themselves as painters had the potential of making the homeowners, landlords, and business owners out in Vancouver think that that was all that they could do.
The contractor who came up with the idea to start a company had also come up with the name, and he wanted it to sound classy. This was because of the nature of the painting business in general, being that most of the time when a homeowner landlord or business owner hired the average, unskilled so-called contractor they would have such an unprofessional vibe about them.
These unkempt contractors simply didn’t carry themselves with any pride, and it showed in their appearance and with the work that they did. One of the main complaints that we heard from homeowners who’d previously hired these types of unsatisfactory companies was that they didn’t keep a clean workstation, showed up late, and were simply a headache to the client themselves.
Being that there were so many different painting companies in Vancouver, WA at the time, the founding contractor wanted to give our company a name that immediately made the customer immediately feel as if our company would carry itself with high standards, and stand out among the rest. At first he wanted to call our company “Classy Painters”, but the rest of the family members just didn’t like the name. They all went back and forth with ideas for a while and finally came up with one that had a nice ring to it, being that they all wanted give a sense of elegance in their work. So, the name Elegant Painters was born, and it has stuck to this day.
With so many people in the family who had skills in different trades, they knew that their company would be able to perform lots of services. One of the first ones that they tried out other than painting was pressure washing, because they had to utilize a pressure washer anyway to power wash exteriors of homes before paint jobs. They figured they should make it a service in itself, and proceeded to get contracts with commercial businesses landlords, and homeowners in and around Vancouver.
All of the family contractors also knew how to do drywall, so they began installing and repairing it for clients as an individual service. Before they knew it, folks all around the Vancouver, WA area were putting in requests for the multi-experienced contractors to come out to do repeated jobs, and also keep up maintenance on the things that needed extended attention, such as residential and commercial driveways that need to be attended to regularly.

We had to find out a way to show those early clients that having a complete bathroom remodel in Honolulu was not as pricey as they thought, no matter what other contractors and/or locals had told them.
